Autumn

It's been awhile since I've updated. In all honesty, I lost my will to do a lot of things in the past month or so. I've been reassessing what photography means to me, and what I want to accomplish (if anything) with it.

Of course we had a very beautiful Autumn here, and I finally pulled myself together to go out and take some pictures.
These were taken November 11th at Deering Oaks Park, and around the East End of Portland.

Save Darfur Benefit Concert

Today was the Save Darfur Benefit Concert in Deering Oaks Park, in Portland, Maine. It was a good turnout, and was worth attending.

Munjoy Hill Festival

I'm trying to play catch up in my journal, so this one is a few days late.

I had my first photo showing at the Munjoy Hill Festival on Sunday. The original date was Saturday the 15th, but it rained, so it was rescheduled for Sunday. I could go into a story about how hard it was to prepare for this show, and how a lot of things kept going wrong for me, but I won't go into it at all.

I had a great time ultimately. Being out in the sun all day, and having people tell you they like your work, and having some people care enough about it to buy it, is just a wonderful feeling. I had friends over for dinner immediately afterwards, and I wouldn't shut up about how great a day it was!

Here are some pictures of my display. I need a lot of work on it, but it was my first time out, so I forgive myself. Half of it was thrown together at the last minute too..oops. :)

Pictures of the festival..I didn't wander far from my table, so these pictures were all in the same area. As a matter of fact, I was set up across the street from the dunk tank..nerve wrecking!

Back from Alaska

I'll be posting a bit of a photo journal for my trip to Alaska here soon. I will post them on each specific day, as I've been doing in the past. I think it helps to keep the format correct. Sure, I didn't post the pictures the same day (usually), that I post an entry in here, but I did take the pictures that day, so it works out better in my opinion! Enough about that though.. the Alaska entries will be below this one, so keep an eye out. I will try to start adding soon. This will be a busy week for me since I'll also be showing my photography at the Munjoy Hill Festival aka Munjfest next weekend.

Day 12: The last day..Anchorage

The last day of our vacation, we slept in, and then decided to go to the Alaska Zoo instead of the Alaskan Native Heritage Center. My mother chose, and I'm glad she did, only because I hadn't seen Dall Sheep on any parts of our vacation, and I'd really wanted to. It was also cheaper than the Native Heritage Center, costing only $10 for the both of us, due to the Toursaver, which we used on almost everything on our vacation.

The Zoo was like any other Zoo really..except I got to see the Dall Sheep.

There were also Polar Bears:

A baby Arctic Fox, An old Amur Tiger, a Snow Leopard, and Coyotes:

Brown Bear:

Maggie the Elephant, who is moving to probably San Andreas, California.

Things that weren't caged..

A bee on a flower:

And Squirrels (Why do they always seem to be eating?):

I wish we could've seen the Wolverine, but it was, or they were hiding.

When we were done there, we decided to head over to the airport slightly early so we could drop off the rental and find our gate.

The plane was about an hour delayed, which wasn't a big deal since it didn't effect our flight schedule. I took a few pictures on the plane, but I didn't have the window seat, so I didn't want to be rude.

The view from above made me wish I didn't have to leave..it was really an amazing place to visit, and I know I must return one day. I didn't see enough.

We made it to Seattle, and it was already starting to get dark. I'll really miss the long days of Alaska. I guess I can be happy to know that they don't last forever..going back some time in the winter does seem like a possibility though.
