Gilsland Farm Sanctuary

I decided to use landscape mode, and I got varied results. I don't know if I'll be able to get one before Alaska, but I'd like to buy a circular polarizer soon.

A Pink Lady Slipper & Naples Blues Festival

I went for a walk around Mackworth Island yesterday. I was disappointed by the lack of flowers as I'd seen before. Also, it's becoming over-run by bamboo, and they are clearing down trees in places and it doesn't look so pretty right now.. The only good thing I found, was a Lady Slipper.

I didn't take many pictures at the Naples Blues Festival, but here are some.

This guy jumped down off the stage, gave his guitar to a woman, and played it while she held it.

A random shot I took of some boaters, with a nice background.

Then the last band we saw. The Blind Lemons, which reminds me too much of Blind Melon. Not a similar style of music though of course..

In other news, I think I have to send my camera back in to be repaired already. The flash won't pop up on demand, and I either have to do it manually (probably a bad idea) or just set the camera to no flash, or else I'll get an annoying error message telling me to shut my camera off.

Falmouth Nature Preserve

These were taken at Falmouth Nature Preserve in Falmouth, ME. It was a hard place to find, luckily I had a friend along to direct me. It ended up being this VERY tiny dirt road which I never would've seen. The preserve would most likely look better in the summer, so I'll have to return to check it out. The water was muddy, and looked more like a sewer.. the colors were, bleh. It's the time of year though mostly. It's a great time to work on figuring out my camera now that it's broken though! I failed in knowing what setting it was on the whole time I was out, and somehow it magically changed to an even worse setting. I found out only after returning home and looking at what I had taken. Lesson learned..next time before I go out, I'll check to make sure it's on the right setting.

Northampton, MA, the "Big E" and Gilsland Farm

This picture was taken September 27th after a Thomas Dolby show in Northampton, MA. I was told I couldn't bring a camera inside, so I unfortunately didn't get any pictures of the show. I did get to meet Dolby though, which was wonderful.

This picture was taken September 28th at the "Big E" fair in West Springfield, MA. I'm not that much into fairs anymore, so I didn't find it very exciting, and didn't see anything I really wanted to take pictures of. There weren't any events going on while we visited either. Perhaps going on the weekend would've been better.

After driving back to Portland later that day, I decided to bring my mother to Gilsland Farm in Falmouth, ME. We arrived while there was still some sunlight.

The week in photo's - Tuesday

Tuesday, August 22nd, I went to Gilsland Farm Sanctuary in Falmouth, ME. I'm glad I finally made it here! I didn't realize how close to Portland it was, and how very easy it is to find. There are many trails, and they don't seem to be overly used. I ran into some people, but overall it was a pretty quiet and peaceful atmosphere. There were a few nice places to sit, relax and enjoy nature. I was also happy to see that it's open year round.

This was taken in Portland, ME a little later that night.

Mackworth Island

I went out today to see how the picture taking possibilities were. What I found. Leaves, budding..no flowers...CRAZY wind. In other words, almost there, just another week or two, and it'll be perfect photo weather! I'm not overly impressed with these, but I thought I'd share, because it helps to motivate me.

Mackworth Island

Today was the first nice day in a long time!!! It was great to see the sun again. Decided to go on a little photo trip after doing a few errands. Went to Mackworth Island for the first time. I'll have to go back again when fall comes.
