Pineland Public Reserve

My photo journeys don't seem to stop when there's nice weather continually.

After work yesterday I went to the Pineland Public Reserved Land in Gray. The trail had a LOT of spots where the mud was so bad, logs and wood and rocks were laid over the mud to cross.

Allow me, if I may, to take you on a journey.

I had been hiking up and down terrain for about 10 minutes and hadn't seen anything yet. I kept hoping for ANYTHING to take pictures of. I finally heard the sound of water. I kinda jogged a bit up a hill and there it was ...nothing TOO special, but a stream with mini waterfalls all over the place.

Now came another problem. Mosqitoes. How could I forget how buggy the Maine woods are? SOOO, having no bug protection at all, I had a VEEEERRRY hard time setting up ANY shot. I had to rush..and run..and shoot..and rush to another spot and shoot...buggys draining me of my vital fluid at every stop. A lot of the pictures unfortunately didn't come out. I didn't realize I had to wait awhile before the picture snapped a few times and ended up with very blurry images, or perhaps the bugs sucking me blood and me flinching had something to do with it heh heh.

I had taken enough shots of the stream, and it had only been another ten minutes so figured I'd go on. I kept hoping for more shots of the stream, but I walked away from it, then walked back to it (following the trail of course). Saw a few nice shots along the way.

Then it was time to cross over the stream.. continued .. was on the other side of the stream, running somewhat parallel, but mostly away. I was wondering if I should go much further at that point. But I saw how the sun was hitting some of the terrain, and wondering if I could get a nice picture of it somewhere (I didn't find a good shot really). As I went up around another hill, and saw the below picture.

And not long after I heard a train...yes a train. I had NOT expected to hear a train, so I got all excited and started to jog down the trail so I could get closer to the sound. Right where the trail ended up, was at a little bridge (for the train), over water, and the train just happened to show up the same time I did. =D

I guess it was luck in a way, so the going forward was worth it. After I saw the train, I figured nothing would top that, so I figured I'd go back to my car where the bugs couldn't bug me anymore.
